Summer in Spain. Madrid

I’ve always thought that Madrid is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been, and not only because I’m from there. It has all the things a capital should have: impressive architecture and beautiful buildings, broad avenues, parks and green everywhere… I’ve always liked to stroll through Madrid downtown, but since I got my camera, I like it even more. I love to see my city with new eyes and explore it at different hours.

I’ve already shown you some of my favorite parts of the city last Christmas. The areas of Gran Vía, Paseo del Prado and Barrio de Salamanca (here) and the city centre (here). This summer, I went again to the area of Gran Vía and Barrio de Salamanca. During August Madrid is empty, most of the people escape from the heat of the capital and go to the coast. It’s then when the crowds disappeared and you can take more time to explore and take photographs. There was a reason to come back to the same area I showed you a few months ago. One of the most beautiful buildings of the city, the Metropolitan, was being restored and just a few weeks ago it was uncovered again. I couldn’t resist to go and take some photographs of it. I also wanted to visit some of the monuments of The Buen Retiro Park, I hadn’t visited it at night before.
