First days of Zurich summer

I know, it’s been a a while since my last post… But these last days have been busy! With the first summer days in Zurich, plans seem to multiply and I didn’t have much spare time to sit in front of my pc and edit photos. And I’ve been taking a lot of photos lately…

The last week my parents in law visited us. It was a great oportunity to explore the city during this new season. The heat has arrived to Zurich and the locals seem to know how to enjoy it: there are terraces everywhere, the badis (natural pools in the rivers or the lake of the city) are open and the parks are full of people sunbathing or having picnics and bbqs. And there has been an explosion of new life in the water of the Zurichsee.

We wandered all day around Niederdorf and Lindenhof, the two areas of Zurich beautiful old town and we even climbed one of the towers of Grossmünster, the cathedral of Zurich, and enjoyed one of the best views of the city.

I hope you like this little tour of Zurich!

    1. Thanks a mil!!! Glad you like the photos!
Right now the city is gorgeous! Even the most typical places look beautiful with all the trees in green and all the flowers in bloom.
It was diffiicult to photograph the Chinagarten! They are reparing some parts of the garden and it’s not easy to avoid the scaffolds in the photos, hehehe. But the works ended in the square of Fraumünster and now it’s not a parking lot anymore 🙂 (it was when I came to visit the city one year and a half ago) Now there are terraces and chairs to sit in the square and it’s a very nice place to walk and photograph!!

    1. Thanks a million, Anne!!! So glad you like it!! 🙂
Zurich has an impressive variety of architectural styles, I find very interesting to photograph the contrast of the medieval buildings and the modern ones.
And the cygnets were a total surprise!! We were walking to the Corbusier Pabillion along the lake shore when we saw a few swan families with the little ones!! I photographed some cygnets a year ago in Dublin, but I never saw the babies riding on their parents back (only in other photographers’ instagrams, hehehe), so I had to make a stop (and change lenses quickly!!) to capture the moment 🙂

    1. Thanks a million!! It was the first time I saw in person the cygnets riding on their mum’s back! I find swans fascinating and it always amazes me how tender and protective they are with their little ones! 🙂
